Seachdain na Gàidhlig or Edinburgh Gaelic Festival was established by the University of Edinburgh in 2014.

After two successful festivals, in Spring and Autumn of that year, it was agreed that Seachdain na Gàidhlig should belong to all of Edinburgh. The festival ran annually across the city every November organised by a committee of volunteers and with support from the University of Edinburgh and the City of Edinburgh Council. In 2022, it was agreed that Seachdain na Gàidhlig should run at the same time as the wider World Gaelic Week, also called Seachdain na Gàidhlig, which launched in 2021. In 2023, Gaelic Week | Edinburgh, formally Edinburgh Gaelic Festival, will celebrate Edinburgh’s Gaelic community and the place of the language in the capital city in tandem with the wider celebrations of all things Gaelic in Scotland and across the world!
